🍎 Tips for a Successful PYO Adventure

✔ Check before you go.
Picking conditions can change quickly. Always check the farm's latest website or social media update before leaving home.

✔ Bring the right shoes.
Orchards and fields can be muddy, uneven and wet.

✔ Dress for the weather.
Hats, sunscreen, bug spray and plenty of water are great additions to your PYO-day packing list.

✔ Ask about containers.
Some farms provide picking containers, while others allow you to bring your own.

✔ Pick only what you plan to take home.
Remember that the crops are a farmer's livelihood. Be respectful and follow each farm's picking rules.

✔ Ask before eating while picking.
Some farms have specific food-safety rules regarding eating fruit in the field.

✔ Make a day of it!
Many area farms offer markets, baked goods, wagon rides, playgrounds, corn mazes, festivals and other family activities.

✔ Don't forget your camera! 📸
A day spent picking fruit together makes some pretty great family memories.

When you pick your own, you're getting more than fresh, locally grown food. You're creating family memories while supporting local farmers and helping preserve the agricultural heritage of York and Adams counties.

So grab the kids, bring your basket and make a day of it!

Happy picking! 🍓🫐🍎🎃🌻

Macaroni KID Tip: PYO farms are seasonal businesses, and crop availability can change rapidly. Always verify current picking availability, hours, admission fees and pricing directly with the farm before visiting.
